Packing Tips for Flying with Kids

Flying with children is something most parents fear. However, there are things you can pack in order to make sure your kids (and you) have a pleasant flight. Check out the items below to see what will help your flight go smoothly.

Flying with kids

Snacks, Snacks, and More Snacks

Make sure your kids don't get hangry because that's when the chaos begins. These Bentgo boxes are perfect for storing snacks for your flight and easily fit into a backpack.

A Water Bottle

Make sure your kids don't die of thirst waiting for the flight attendants to bring drinks down the aisle. Bring one of these empty bottles through security and then fill it up when you get to your gate. Bonus - they're spill proof when closed, so it will help limit the mess!

A Tablet

Maintain your sanity by allowing your kids to use a tablet during the flight. The Kindle Fire is durable and comes with plenty of storage and a protective case. Download your kids' favorite movies and shows prior to your flight, and they will be entertained for hours.

Headphones

With a tablet, comes noise. Your fellow passengers will appreciate these headphones as much as you do. This model provides volume limiting measures, making it safer for your kids' hearing.

Portable Charger

Most families travel with a lot of electronics. Make sure your batteries stay charged with a portable charger. This set comes in a 2-pack and is compatible with all different brands of phones, tablets, and portable gaming systems.

Disposable Bibs

Toddlers and babies are messy, especially when they are eating. Make cleanup a breeze with these disposable bibs. They are durable and have a built-in crumb catcher for all those bites that don't end up in their mouths!

Disposable Place Mats

Speaking of messes, disposable place mats are great for planes for 2 reasons -not only do they keep the tray table clean, but they also provide a barrier between any germs lurking around and your kid. Bonus - these placemats have a seek-and-find activity on them to help keep your kid entertained while flying!

Clorox Wipes

And speaking of germs, keep them at bay by wiping down the seats, trays, and arm rests with disinfectant wipes from one of these convenient travel packs.

Entertainment

Perhaps THE most important thing to bring on a flight with kids is entertainment. Obviously your tablet will be the highlight, but if you like to limit screen time or if your kids are like two of mine and they suddenly lose interest in their tablet the second you need them to watch it, here are a few items that are easy to pack and will provide plenty of entertainment for them.

Melissa & Doug
These Water Wow! books and reusable sticker scenes are some of my kids' favorites! They are great for keeping toddlers and preschoolers entertained and quiet and can be used over and over again.
Window Clings
Keep your toddler busy with these window clings. They can take them on and off the plane's window or the tray table. Sounds simple, but they love it!
Busy Board Book
Perfect for babies and toddlers, this book contains all the things traditional busy boards have but in a convenient travel form!
Puzzle Activity Books
Perfect for older kids, these activity books are full of word puzzles, games, mazes, and more!
I Spy Travel Game
The whole family will have fun playing this card game!
Erasable Drawing Pads
Kids of all ages will have fun with these - they can draw different pictures and then simply erase when they are done!
